Course Description:

Digital Studio Photography is designed to advance art skills and thought processes in preparation for AP Studio Art. Students will continue to examine the principles of design and elements of art while using various digital art programs and technologies to explore design opportunities with cameras and computers. This course continues to foster an understanding of artists and art history, as well as writing and discussing art making on a regular basis. To complete this course students will create a final portfolio.

 

 

Class Fee:

All Photography classes at Longmont High School require students to pay a $40 class fee.  This fee helps us to provide your student with the best education possible.  Please pay this fee as soon as possible in the front office or online through the Longmont High School website.

 

Classroom Expectations:

In this classroom, as in all classrooms at LHS, you are expected to be respectful of EVERYONE and EVERYTHING 
in the shared space.  In photography class you will be surrounded by thousands of dollars worth of equipment so it is very important that you are mindful of your actions in this class.  IF YOU BREAK IT YOU WILL BUY IT!!! NO EXCEPTIONS!!  
If you feel that is too much responsibilty please see me about switching classes.  That being said...THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED IN THE COMPUTER LAB!!!  You may have water with a lid under your desk.   Remember Mac's cost $2000!

 

Attendance:

You are expected to be in class, on time, everyday that we are schelduled to meet!  Bring a positive attitude and willingness to work hard, try new things, and make new friends!

 

Excused Absence:

You have the same number of days you missed to make up the work.  

Unexcused Absence: If you don't care to come to my class and come on time, then I don't care to teach you.  No make up work, no credit, no exceptions!

TARDIES: Don't let it happen!  If you are 30 minutes late to a class that is considered an unexcused absence.  This is a school policy.  If you are late, come in quietly, and don't ask me what you missed!!  I will ignore you.  If you are late you will loose points for class participation that will directly affect your grade.

 

Leaving Class:  
You may ask permission to use the restroom at an appropriate time during class.  This means that you may not go the first 15 or last 15 minutes of any class.  You have 10 minutes between class so use it wisely!  If I am giving a lecture, directions, due date, etc. then it is NOT an appropriate time!

 

Grading:

You will be graded on class participation/work ethic (5pts a class), projects/assignments(100 pts), and assessments.
